The Friday Report. ~Sanjay Patel~

So today we had to go find a graphic designer or blog that we really liked. I found several, however my favorite out of all of them had to be a book cover made by Sanjay Patel. Patel designs work based on Hindu mythology while bringing it to life with his eye-catching style. What i loved most about the site i found him on though showed the entire process of him planning and designing this cover. I love how the colors contrast and the figures are stylized, but interesting and flowing, in a way. The arrows at the bottom add movement and excitement, and points your eye towards the main character and villain. The circles and lines in the background add to the eye-catching flow of the picture. I love his style. I also love him because he's a Pixar illustrator and animator. Check out the interview that i read here!!

Design Book: Page 5, Color Design

This is my color design, it took me a decent amount of time, maybe 2 or 3 days to be completely done and happy with it. I put a lot of line in, to give it a flowing feel.  I also used complementary colors, yellow green, orange yellow and red violet.

Design Book: Page 4, Free For All

So this is the fourth entry in my design book, which we had to use everything we learned. This picture has a little bit of everything, and it shows. I love how this one came out.

Design Book: Page 3, Patterns

So this is my third entry in my design book project. This page had to have a pattern in it, which mine reminds me of a hostess cupcake. Either way, this piece is okay, but not my favorite so far.

Design Book: Page 2, Gradients

This is my second design in the series of 4. In this one, we were only allowed to use shapes and gradients. This one was coming along horribly for a while, so I totally redid it, and I'm so glad I did. Oh and I didn't mention before, all these designs must be in black and white. Well, if you couldn't tell by now. :]

Design Book: Page 1, Line

1st Page: Line
This is the first picture that was made for our first project in Electronic Design 1. In this picture, we were only allowed to use line, no fills or gradients. It took a little bit to re-adjust myself to illustrator too, I haven't used it in so long. I'm pretty happy with how it came out though.

Update: I found this amazing picture. It speaks for itself.

Well said.
